Value of a Rupee!

After reading the title don't think that 'm gonna give a long drawn post about the value of a rupee. its just some basic facts which we all love to ignore.

Its not just 1/(whatever the value of a $$). Our Rupee coin is so much more than that. Its

1 Caramel Eclairs.
2 coffee bites.
4 Soft Spots (Whatever happened to them?!)
16 village peppermints!
60 seconds from the Yellow Box.
100 SMSes for some.
The topping to the 100,500 or 1000 in an envelope at a ceremony.
The savior from a ceremonial kick from the bus conductor.
An hour for the homeless.
A house for an Eritrean. :)
An ugly jingle to your stride.
An embarrassment to a '7-figurer'.
The trophy of a grocery store bargain.
A decider at an auction.
A Gem for a Romanian numismatist.
Horrible worthlessness at the Mall.
A well-deserved tip for The Cocky Waiter.
An extra Sweet Puri at the chaat place.

Thrissur

I visited this place just to visit my closest friends home. he has been pestering me to come to his place for the past one and half years but usually something comes up due to which i could not make it. This time i finally got the time and opportunity to go.

for those who don't know Thrissure is know as the "cultural Capital of Kerala". Mostly famous for its Poorams(temple festivals), it has many great places to hang out which includes kerala's oldest mall, a lake to spend ur evening driving away whatever tesnions you have and many more places.

Once in the place u cant miss the famous Swaraj Round Also known as Thrissur Round, around which the whole town is built. There are also the temple of which the most famous are the Vadakumnathan Temple and the Paramekkavu Bagavathi Temple. These two temples are the main for the Trissure Pooram which is held annually.

There is also the Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours Also known as Puthan Pally, this is the biggest and tallest church in Asia, situated in the heart of the city. The gothic arcitecture used in this church is amazing. The bible tower gives you a great view of the city, but the climb can be a bit long and steep :)

If u go there dont miss the Vadakkechira. This is one of the largest pond located north of the city. The atmosphere will make u feel that u are not in a town, even if u are still only a few meters away from a busy traffic junction. A great place to spend your evening, if with friends the better.

Then visit the City center, one of the first formed malls in kerala and is maintained very well. With a variety of shops to wet a shopping happy persons apetite. Talking of apetite, the mall also houses excellent eatries which can surly wet your apetite :)

The town when u think of is small but has many things which can surprise you. actually i now have an ilking for the place that have been to this place twice in the past 2 months. :)

Going Places

These past two months have been very hectic as most of the time i have been out most of the time. My friends say that 'll go places after i finish my studies( actually i dont have any idea what they mean by that) and i have really been "going to many places" during the past 2 months. :)

For the past 2 moths i have been on travel most of the times that 'm actually never at home. Sometimes i have gone for a formal function. Sometimes with friends, family or just for fun. Have been to a variety of places that i really understood how much i love traveling, a feeling i never had before. :D

For this reason 'm opening a new label in the blog named "Travel",of which this is the first post. The label will have a description of the places i have been visiting or have visited in the past and what i have learnt from my travels.

Small is big!!!

Most of us have known of fights starting from small issues. Now i have witnessed one which started just because of a small 5 letter word written on a road that is nobody's property.

Now u will be thinking how a 5 letter word can lead to a fight. Now 'll say that the word was "ROYAL" and you will be yet again confused. But when i say that the people involved in the fight were the seniors and juniors of my college i guess you get an idea.

I wont go on explaining the events that lead to the fight or even the fight that happened. but this event set me thinking on how things can be always drawn out of proportion, how small things can lead to bigger things, how one cant just change the way how people think, or how people just jump to conclusions. A small thing which could have been resolved my mutual talk went on into a whole scale "war". I know fights have started for smaller reasons that this, but you actually feel silly when it happens right in front of you.

Now after the whole fight when people go out looking for the cause of the fight all they find is a 5 letter word.... now i seriously HATE that 5 letter word.. grrrrr

Another accolade

Right from the start of my college days i have held various positions and done various events for the college. I have held high posts of authority for my department, an independent organization, and many more. people have recognized for the work rate i put in and efficiency of my work. Maybe that why they honored me with the highest accolade that i have got in my college life till now.

I have been elected College Council Chairperson(college captain). :)
***applause***

After rididng trough some tough competition i won by a landslide a election which i never thought 'll win. Maybe the students are too fond of me and thought 'll be an apt leader for them. Hope i can live up to the expectation that many people have on me.

Another Project!!

With another project looming large i was scouring the net for possible things that i could make. My team always try to make something ambitious so i too was trying to get an ambitious project topic. Thats when i found this picture. take a look. :)

Hawkeyed!!!!!

Rarely do we come across a topic that is quiet fascinating and that can be taken in such a way that will leave the audience spellbound. I was in search of such a topic to present as 7th semester seminar /paper. the holidays were spent searching various websites giving semianr topics with a small abstract but still i could not find the topic that most fascinated me. almost losing hope i made a note of few topics that were appealing.
Thinking that the seniors will help me i tried out one last resort. Tried chatting with as many seniors as i can get hold to. and that is where is struck gold. One of my seniors told me to take something in sports technology and stated telling me about Hawkeye(though i already knew about it, it had not crossed my mind a a topic worth taking). One wiki search and i knew that i had found what i wanted.

That day started the extensive research and collecting all sorts of info that is available on the net. College started and i had to submit the abstract. I submitted 3 topics. I submitted HAwkeye ,Imax(another topic that interested me, now begin researched by one of my closest friend :) ) and GPS. And the unthinkable happened. The TEacher rejected my main topic and asked me to take GPS (i had already taken this topic in another semester). DAMN !!!! Somehow i coaxed her to accept the topic( that was not tough at all).

I slacked a bit after this and had to make the ppt on the day before the presentation but somehow still managed to make it adding lot of pics and videos. i was feeling jittery as i had not prepared well enough but still was confident of not giving a bad show :) .

The seminar started. I went on with full gusto explaining each and every bit. Usually the trend in seminars is that the class starts minding its own business after a few slides.. but mid way into my presentation i was surprised that most of the class was still paying attention to my blabbering :)
That gave me extra confidence. The seminar ended leaving me satisfied. The teachers really liked my work and asked the others to take examples from my work . But the best part ws when each and evey member present there came and congratulated me for taking a wonderful class. and i guess it was so good that almost the whole college was talking about it the next day. :)

Saas-Bahu Soap Operas

No matter how many times they have featured on 'Things I Hate The Most' on Slam-Books and personality questionnaires, I have always been awed by the rich variety of 'saas-bahu' teleserials aired during prime-time.
Why?

Here is ,in no way an exhaustive list of their achievements( Due to obvious reasons I consider all the saas-bahu dramas to be a single identity) :


The net worth of the jewellery in one scene overtakes the GDP of Eritrea(ask google uncle about Eritrea).

The costumes worn by a single person on one show beats the lifetime wardrobe of an average, sane mortal.

The Bindis of a lucky select compete in size with Kosovo.

The only set-up , fiction,non-fiction or whatever, where an older person plays the daughter if not grand-daughter of the younger one.

The wiliness of the average bahu puts to shame even the most dangerous KGB spy.

The make-up used for one complete episode can is more than that used by any mortal.

The only family probably in the history of time to have 8 generations in one frame.

The only shows on planet that can make a 5 minute real-life scene go on for an hour.How?
Here are a few ways :

• The camera zooms into and out of the bahu's face 5-6 times,accompanied by thunderous sounds,prefferably from different angles.
• Then,the above repeats for the other 8-9 subjects in the scene.
• This done,there are various combinations to capture reactions.
• Then we bring in components just one color.
• The list is so ingeniously long,hence I skip here(phew).

Those were but just a few.
And how did I become such an 'expert' at this,well , "Mums" the Word!!
