Once i was browsing through some book in a book store i came upon one book written by a certain Chetan Bhagat. I didn't know who the author was but i certainly knew about the book as i had read its review somewhere as it had become a bestseller. The book was " one night at the call center". that day i didn't buy the book but i wanted to get that book. then i came to know that he had written another book.
Recently i brought both the books and reading through the books i felt that it was an all to similar story all of us had to tell. i started off by reading "Five Point Someone" which is a story about 3 students from the IIT who have toiled to get into IIT and how they screw their lives in the college. This is the same story most of the college students have to tell and i realized how much truth was there in the book. The book is a must read for all college students and tell us what not to do in colleges. Its upto you to apply it in your lives or not.
The second book was the book was the book i said i saw in the book store."One Night At the Call Center " is a book of 6 people who are working in a call center and how they get a call from god one night. The book is very well written and tells the difficulties faced by people in the outside world and how they should overcome it.
Though both the books are fictional i found them too true to be that. The book are a must read and will be in some of the best books i have read.

Onam Celebrations in college
Onam is a festival which is celebrated with great pomp and activity in Kerala. it is the main festival off all keralites. So most Colleges and schools celebrate it in there own campus. i have missed lot of onams as i have spent the best part of my life outside kerala. but now 'm back here.
We have onam celebration in our college every year. students in our college are divided into 4 houses-agni,akash,prithvi,and vayu. Final year students have a separate house of there own(though it not liked by all). The activities are participated by students of the various houses and they are given prizes. One of the main attraction is the Pookalam(flower carpet) contest. Last year my house had got 2nd in that competition and i wanted to repeat that(oops!!! sorry i forgot to mention that i was made the temporary captain if Agni House :-) ). the day before the celebration was the day our exams were over but my work had just started. i had to collect money from the students so that i can buy flowers for the floral carpet(when onam comes the flowers are more costlier than gold). But by that time most of the students had gone home only leaving a handful back in college. So by the end of the day i had 500 rs( out of which 200 i got from students rest were from my pocket) while the rest of the houses had collected more than a thousand.
That night i sent one of my friends to get the flowers. the Big day arrived and the competition was supposed to start at 9.30 but they started at 9( lack of communication). So we started a hour late. Buy the time we had drawn the carpet using chalk the flowers arrived> luckily we finished the thing just in time. When the results came my house had come second(second cos final years always get first even if they have made the worst thing). Yippeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! I was feeling very happy cos i had emulated performance of last year( first was what i wanted..but i'm happy..maybe next time). And guess what the houses which had collected over 1000Rs came 4th and 5th.
The chief guest gave me my prize which was a box full of chocolates which i distributed to all who had helped me with the contest. thank you guys. The rest of the day was spent watching cultural events( and lot of booing for flop events :-) ).
But now i have to somehow get back the money i had invested in this contest. That will be another Story. i'll post the photos of the event soon
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friendship Day
Today,5th of august, is the friendship day. The day brings back nostalgic memories of all the friends that i have had till now and all the good time that i have spent with them.
i have studied in 4 schools(all KV's) in my schooling days. i have made many friends. many of then i have lost touch with. some i still am in contact with, a big thanks to ORKUT.
I have spent my best days of my schooling in Bombay where i made some great friends whom i miss very much every day. Though they were not my only good friends but they are special as i have spent my growing up years with them.I have learnt a lot from them . a big thanks guys.
Then when i came back to Kochi(which i didn't want), i made some new friends who were very good that they made me get over the mumbai hangover. thanks guys.
In our busy lives we seldom have time to keep in touch with old friends. the only medium that i have now is Orkut. And guess what, due to orkut i was able to meet friends whom i had studied with 10 years ago and we were able to have get together.
in the end i wasn't to say a big thanks to all the friends who have been with me through all my high and low points, for bearing with me.Even if we lose touch you all are still in my heart.

Industrial Visit S5 - part 3
it looks like i'm posting in too much detail. so 'm going to cram the rest of the 2 days in this post. these were the days when we had the most of the fun.
day 3- Pondi
we reached Pondi by 8 had breakfast and left to visit Wipro, which was the industry we were supposed to visit. We reached there by 10 and were divided into 2 bacthes of 21 each. we finished the industry visit by 12. So we went sightseeing. had lunch at 1.30. We went to the beach and had lots of fun playing in the water. we left the beach by 6 and had to take a room as most of the people who had ventured into the water had to get fresh. we took a room and got fresh. had dinner by 9 and left pondi by 12.
day 4- Kodai
We reached Kodaikannal(for those who dont know, kodai is a hill station in tamilnadu) just in time for a brunch. After that we went to some gardens and also a suicide point(it was not much of a suicide point as it was all gilled up. i have no idea why they call it the suicide point then). Then we went to a lake which was the main attraction. When we reached there i saw a cycle shop renting cycles. i took a cycle and some of my friends also took one. slowly most of the people had a cycle. those who didnt have were going boating. i preffered cycling as it was one thing i like to do. cycling came naturally to me. So i slowly started off on the cycle. and completed one of the lake before joining with my friends who were taking an ice cream break. Had an icecream and off again for another lap. this time i had company and like this before i knew i had taken 6 laps of the lake. i reached back by 6and the cycle was returned. by that time i was famished and took some friends and went to have some food.
we left for a resort where a camp fire was planned. We played some camp fire games. had dinner and stated off on our way back by 11 or 12. this time i slept well for the first time in 4 days.
i reached back home at 8.30. actually we had to attend classes that day.by kindly our hod gave us the day off. So thus my tour came to a close. the tour in which i made lot of new friends and have lot of fond memories to treasure.

Industrial Visit S5 - part 2
don't read this post unless you have done the first part.
Day2 -
WE were running late as we had made so many stops. to reach madras at 10 would be only distant dream. We reached a Dharmapuri - a small town in tamil nadu. there we brushed our teeth and got fresh( didn't take a bath just freshened up). had our breakfast. then i and one of my friend went battery hunting for my digital camera as my batteries were running low and could die off any minute. but we didnt find any shop which sells batteries required for digicam. finally i gave in and we returned back to our bus and i engrossed my self in a newspaper that i had brought. We finally reached Madras at 1 thanks to our driver who had promised us that we would reach there for lunch. We had lunch and we decided to drop the plan of getting a room in madras to get fresh. though there were some protests they finally gave in when they got the logic. we went shopping in T-Nagar. As i had been there already i was acting as a guide to my mates as i had been there before. all went shopping. i was just window shopping as i had no interest to buy anything. the shopping went on till 8. people started returning with big bags and all. i went with our teacher and brought her as her sandals were giving her some trouble. we brought 2 new pairs of them. then we had dinner at 9 and left Madras at 10. We went to Mamallapuram where we took rooms. I was stinking as i hadn't taken a bath for more than 36 hours. i was asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow. We were told to get up at early s we had to leave by 5. i woke up at 3.30 and also called my friend who was sleeping besides me. We both took baths and woke up the rest of the people in the room. our room was ready by 4.30 all packed up and all. when we went out to see who all were up we were surprised that only some people were awake and the people who told us that we had to wake up at 5 were not even up. finallywe were able to raise the lazy bones and most of them were ready by 5.30. we left at 6 for pondi.
Day 3 in next post.

Industrial Visit S5 - part 1
Industrial visit is being encouraged by the management of every college nowadays. the main idea behind it is the students should let themselves know things practically.not only these i.v’s give exposure in academic point of view, but also exposes students in knowing different places, interacting with industrial people directly. But the students idea is: To hell with the industry, all we want to do is enjoy the days of the iv away from books classes etc.
Our class decided to go on an iv this sem. well it was early to go to a iv as its mostly held when the end of sem approaches but this time students wanted to go early as they know that they will get busy and will not be able to go for an iv by the end of the sem( as by that time results may come out too). The places we decided to go were Madras,Pondicherry and Hokkanakkal(which we later changed to Kodaikanal). After a eventful one week of getting students to come for iv, collecting money, fixing up the industry etc we left for out iv on 26july evening. In the edn out of 62 people in the class 44 decided to come( one didn't come as he met with an accident on the day before the iv) there was a bit of tension on the last day as Wipro- the company which we had requested hadn't sent their permission letter yet, but soon that was solved and we started by 6 p.m(the original time was 5 but the bus we were going on came late and also some students were late too).
That day day was full of troubles troubles and more troubles. we had two industries lined up to go. in the end we decided to drop one. but nobody was informed. we had to waste an hour by the roadside to solve the issue. then the bus headlight stopped working owing to some loose connection. finally we reached thrissur by 9 and had dinner. then we started off again. the bus had an awesome music system and disco lights. we all danced till we were tired(dancing went on for 2-3 hours). Then we reached Walayar, which is the checkpoint between the kerala-tamilnadu border. There was a huge traffic jam there. usually when i had passed throught that place when i went with family we never had much trouble and crossed in 2 mins or so. but this time we had to stay in the traffic jam for 2 1/2 hours. man it was really irritating. then we crossed it. one by one everybody started falling asleep. i was not getting much sleep dont know why. then i went and sat with the drivers and for the rest of the night followed the roads( which were very good and a sight to behold at night) and chased down other vehicles. soon i was joined by 2 of my other friends. the bus was going full throttel all the time. a amazing sight i saw that night that the road had trees on both sides and their brances were bent and the trees on both sides of the road met in the middle of the road forming a canopy on top of the road.it was a amazing sight and i tried to take pics of it but all i got was my camera flash reflected in the glass of the windshield. then we met with our cs batch who had left a day before us. they had some problem with their bus. and we stopped again to help them out. stopped for tea at 5 at some wayside tea shop. most of the students were sleeping and didnt know that we had stopped. some of those who were awake went for a refreshing tea break. then i slept for a wink at 6. and some idiot took the photo of me sleeping and sampled it to the whole bus(as he had no other job in the world).
this was the first day. read the second part which 'm posting next.
